Prospect Hill Plantation Inn, is a romantic Virginia bed and breakfast located near Charlottesville, VA. It is an authentic 18th century plantation complex consisting of the 1732 manor house with additions from the 1840s to the 1920s with all seven of the original dependencies and former slave quarters dating from 1699 to 1850. Since 1977 the Sheehan family has renovated this historic manor and outbuildings into thirteen distinctive guest rooms, all with private baths and working fireplaces, and most (eight suites and cottages) with double Jacuzzi whirlpool baths. Each guest room and cottage is unique. By keeping each room's original function as intact as possible, these guest rooms and suites vary from elegant to rustic but all lodging rooms are charming and romantic with antique furnishings and pillow top queen and king size beds and modern bathroom amenities.

Our two candlelight "Charlottesville dining" rooms have been serving the finest culinary delights since 1977 to locals and overnight guests. We offer Virginia bed and breakfast specicals   romantic Virginia getaway lodging rates from $195 to $350 that include wine and snacks in room on arrival, pre-dinner wine reception, breakfast-in-bed (or in the dining room), and all staff gratuities. Dinner (see samples of our Charlottesville dinner menu ) which changes each day and is served at 8 PM on Fri and Sat and at 7 PM Sun  thru Thurs. These pre-fixe dinners include our complimentary wine reception and the complete four course dinner including dessert. Wine with dinner is additional, 5% sales tax, and gratuities are not included.  Guests are invited to arrive one-half hour prior for our pre-dinner wine reception. We invite our guests to dress for dinner as they would to visit friends. For some that means all dressed up and to others it means "dressy (or business) casual."  We ask for dinner reservations so we know how many guests are coming but we encourage you to call, even at the last minute, as we usually can squeeze in a few more guests. All major credit cards and personal checks are accepted.

The historic inn grounds at Prospect Hill are magnificent with many of the original 1840 plantings of trees, including the rarest magnolia in the United States, forming a 5 acre arboretum (tree garden). There is a lovely outdoor swimming pool with shade pavilion as well as many private places to relax on our almost 50 acres of grounds as well as a large Garden Pavilion for quiet reflection, the site of hundreds of Charlottesville Virginia wedding ceremonies at Prospect Hill which has the reputation as one of the premier wedding and small meeting locations in Virginia . A large white tent will house the wedding reception of your dreams among ancient trees overlooking still meadows. The inn staff prepares a sumptuous wedding repast for as few as 25 and up to 250 guests. Smaller parties can also be accommodated indoors in the Rose Room, the former 1840 ballroom of the manor.
